Spring Walks Near Denton

Denton sits in a soft fold of south Norfolk countryside where the lanes are narrow, the hedgerows are tall, and the traffic is almost always a tractor. In April the verges begin to fill with cow parsley and the woods a short drive away carry a haze of bluebells.

Our favourite route leaves the front door, drops down past the church and joins a green lane that runs east toward Alburgh. It is a gentle two hours, largely level, with a pub roughly at the halfway point.

If you would rather drive first, the woods above Ditchingham are quieter still. Park at the top and take the bridleway down through the beeches — you will hear the first chiffchaffs of the year, and often not much else.
